Carpet Buying Information

Let the Carpet Buyer Beware...  Few homeowners are up-to-date with the latest tips, tricks & insider secrets to buying new carpet wisely in today's volatile marketplace. It's a jungle out there! Carpet SCAMS and RIP-OFFS are everywhere! Retailers use deceptive advertising, salespeople give bad advice, carpet installers are untrained and it's hard to make wise and informed choices.

Smart homeowners who do their carpet homework will save hundreds and be happy with their carpet selection for years to come. But those who think they can select the right carpet WITHOUT expert advice and information stand to lose thousands or worse.

I receive dozens of emails from homeowners who've made costly mistakes, asking me what they can do to get a refund or a remedy to their carpet problems. In most cases it's too late, they made poor choices and there is no recourse. Now they wish they had done their homework prior to making such a large and important purchase. Don't let this happen to you. Before you begin shopping for carpet, take time to read my free carpet buying articles on my website. Your eyes will be opened to the truth.

To get the most powerful information available anywhere, download my Complete Carpet Buying Guide. As an added bonus, I'll send you my private email address so you can send me any carpet buying questions you may have along the way! What Every Consumer Should Know

Before Buying New Carpet.

You've decided it's time to buy new carpet so you are surfing the internet to get some basic carpet information to gain the edge you need and to get a good deal. Most people don't know much about how carpet is made, or what makes one carpet any better than another so reading up on the subject will help you avoid making costly mistakes. This is where most people get into big trouble.  If you buy the wrong carpet you will be throwing your money away. That's why it is very important that you have access to honest carpet buying information. From my years of experience in this business, I know that being successful buying new carpet is:

1.) Selecting the Right Carpet and Padding   that meets your needs and lifestyle, and will last as long as you expect. 74% of all consumers choose the wrong carpet.

2.) Qualified Installation  (More than 87% of all carpet installers are not properly trained)

and...

3.) Get a fair and square Price on the Carpet, padding and installation. Getting a good price is not easy to do. unless you learn how to avoid common carpet scams and how to negotiate a good deal.

Carpet Scams

If you have bought new carpet in the past successfully then buying new carpet might seem like a no-brainer. But times have changed and buying new carpet today is not easy to do at all. Why? There are dozens of new ways that unscrupulous carpet retailers use to trick you out of your hard-earned money. Your job as an informed consumer is to learn how to recognize and avoid the common carpet scams.

  • How do I recognize a carpet scam?

Selecting Carpet Wisely

Not all carpets are created equal. Some carpets are designed for heavy traffic and can last for 20 years or more. Other carpets are designed for light traffic and might last 1 to 3 years. You have to be sure that the Carpet and Pad you intend to purchase is designed for your unique application. There are varying grades of carpet, you must choose the right grade of carpet and pad if you want it to last.

  • How do I know which grade of carpet to select?

  • How much should I expect to pay for carpet?.

Consumers often select a carpet for the wrong reasons. A specific color, style or low price is often the determining factor behind the final selection. This means that you need to have knowledge about carpet fibers and construction specifications. Even if you have this information you need to know how to use it to your advantage.

  • How can I determine the quality of a carpet?

  • How do I compare carpets from different stores?

Unscrupulous carpet retailers go out of their way to make it appear simple and easy to buy new carpet. They bundle up the carpet, pad and installation into one convenient package deal. They price the whole deal by the "square foot" to make it sound very affordable. They may even offer free products, services or discounted installation to fool you into thinking you are getting a good deal.

  • How can I make sure I am getting a fair and square deal?

  • What carpet retailers should I avoid?

"Thank you Alan! Your ebook has educated me well.

It really has been fun for both of us."  M. B. Dallas TX.

Carpet Measuring Scams

If a carpet salesperson comes to your house to measure, they may not disclose to you how much carpet you need. Unscrupulous carpet retailers prefer to keep this information hidden from you so you won't use the information to buy from someone else. It also allows them to charge you as much as they want without you knowing the true itemized cost for each of the products and services involved in the deal.

  • What should you do if they won't give you the information you need?

  • How much should everything cost individually?

Installation Scams

It is your job to be sure that the carpet installer is qualified and installs your carpet according to the CRI 105 installation guidelines. You cannot trust the carpet retailer to do this for you.  If your carpet is not installed properly it will not last as long as it was intended and your warranty may be void.

  • How can you determine if your carpet is being installed properly?

  • How can you determine if your carpet installer is qualified to install your carpet?

Get Educated

You can't expect any retail carpet salesperson to educate you properly. First, they don't have enough time to teach you what you really need to know, and second, their advice is not always good advice.

Unscrupulous carpet salespeople will quickly know if you are a wise shopper or not. If you walk in without a clue they can easily take advantage of your lack of knowledge and sell you an overpriced carpet that does not meet your needs or goals.

  • What is the best way for me to deal with pushy carpet salespeople?

  • What do I need to know to make a wise carpet purchase?
